🎵✨ The China-Britain Music Trust (CBMT) Masterclass Series is officially launched! ✨🎵

We’re excited to announce the first in our new series of auditioning masterclass-workshops, designed to help young musicians strengthen their performance and auditioning skills.


🎻 Strings Auditioning Masterclass-Workshop with Hilary Sturt

👩‍🏫 Featuring:

We are delighted to welcome Hilary Sturt (violin/viola), distinguished faculty member at the Royal College of Music’s Pre-College programme, as our first confirmed educator. More celebrated guest teachers will be announced soon!


🎶 Who can apply?

String players aged 10–18, minimum ABRSM/Trinity Grade 5 (Grade 4 passed). Perfect for those preparing for senior music scholarships or conservatoire auditions.


🎵 What to expect:

  • Perform a solo piece (violin, viola, cello, or double bass), up to 6 minutes

  • Receive personalised feedback from Ms Sturt

  • 8 performance slots (20 minutes each, plus interval)

  • Pianist provided (accompanied or unaccompanied works welcome)

  • Session concludes with a 30-minute talk open to all participants and attendees


📝 Logistics:

  • Warm-up spaces available (priority given based on performance order)

  • No rehearsal with pianist on the day – please prepare with accompaniment beforehand

  • All accepted participants must attend the full session (12:30–16:00)


💷 Fee:

  • £80 per student (1 parent attends free)

  • £10 per spectator
